There’s a therapeutic gap in obesity treatments: diets, drugs, change in lifestyle as initial approach followed by major surgery like RYGB, Sleeve Gastrectomy, BPD/DS. Bariatric Endoscopy targeting overweight and obese individuals (BMI 27+) represent a much larger opportunity than more invasive therapies indicated for the morbidly obese (BMI 35+) only, combining surgical skills and operative endoscopy experience. The symposium aims to offer an overview on the most recent technologies in bariatric endoscopy focusing on the opportunities provided by endoscopic suturing as bridge between two medical specialties.
